Sirius XM
Congero served as a key technology partner in building and consolidating SiriusXM’s revenue management infrastructure from its very inception. By implementing a full revenue lifecycle on Oracle BRM, Congero enabled SiriusXM to launch, scale, and sustain its subscription business — a platform the company continues to operate more than 20 years later. This engagement was instrumental in SiriusXM’s growth into a publicly traded company with over 20 million active subscribers.
Desafío
Sirius XM was in the midst of launching satellite radio in the United States — an innovative, first-of-its-kind product at the time. The company faced three critical business challenges:
- How to collect revenue efficiently and at scale from day one of operations.
- How to protect revenue: ensuring that service activated immediately upon subscription and stopped without revenue leakage upon cancellation.
- How to manage multiple payment modalities — credit cards, gift cards, monthly, annual, three-year, and lifetime plans — on a platform that did not natively support these capabilities.
Solución o tecnología
Congero implemented Oracle BRM (Oracle Billing and Revenue Management) as the system’s core, integrated with an internal web interface developed by SiriusXM. The scope of the solution included:
- Full configuration of business logic: order processing, service activation/cancellation, and subscriber lifecycle management.
- Custom development on top of Oracle BRM for features not available in the standard platform: gift card processing, payment installment splitting, and automated refund workflows.
- Subsequent redesign of the refund process for greater operational efficiency.
- Revenue reporting segmented by subscription type.
- Expansion into the Canadian market between 2010 and 2016, replicating and adapting the solution for SiriusXM Canada.

Resultados
Platform in continuous operation for over 20 years — one of the longest-running Oracle BRM implementations in the consumer-facing sector in North America.
SiriusXM surpassed 20 million active subscribers, establishing itself as a publicly traded company and the leading satellite entertainment provider in the U.S. and Canada.
The company successfully acquired its main competitor, XM Satellite Radio, in 2007, and diversified into streaming, telematics, and music licensing — all built on the technological foundation established with Congero.
Congero contributed to both the U.S. and Canadian operations, supporting the company’s growth and international expansion throughout the platform’s evolution.
El papel de Congero
Strategic technology partner from the founding stage. Congero was responsible for the design, implementation, and ongoing evolution of SiriusXM’s entire revenue management infrastructure, including subscription management, payment processing, financial reporting, and international expansion to Canada. The custom-built capabilities developed on Oracle BRM — unavailable in the standard platform — were engineered directly at SiriusXM’s request by Congero’s team.
Impacto
The successful implementation of the revenue management platform was a decisive factor in the growth and sustainability of SiriusXM’s business model. The fact that the platform continues to operate more than two decades later stands as evidence of the quality, scalability, and robustness of the solution delivered by Congero. This engagement represents the company’s longest-standing client reference and one of the largest Oracle BRM deployments ever executed in the consumer entertainment sector in North America.
